Established in 1994 as a Contract Carriage Company, Al-Haj Enterprises started primarily by providing its services to Pakistan State Oil. Initially, the fleet of the Company consisted of 50 tank lorries as the Company owned Hino. Now the Company has 3,000 vehicles registered in its fleet out of which 1,000 are actively participating in various contracts and hold first position in contractors of Shell Pakistan Ltd. and Chevron Pakistan Ltd., a wellearned position through its excellent business terms with the customers. Initially, the Company provided its fleet of the tank lorries from Karachi operation of Pakistan State Oil, Chevron Pakistan Ltd. and from Mahmood Kot, for loading a variety of products like:

The Company is providing its logistics & transportation services from Karachi, Mehmood Kot, Chaklala and Hyderabad. The Company has gradually broadened the range of its operations to various destinations of Afghanistan, since the beginning of the year 2002. The Company was providing different oil products to Afghanistan through Shell Pakistan Limited, Chevron Pakistan Ltd. and Attock Petroleum Limited to their customers; DESC & ISAF and now broadened its customer base to private parties that are also catering to Defense Forces. Further, we were the first company to get compliance with CBR SRO 943 (I) /2007 and also received an award of appreciation from DESC for quality transportation of aviation fuel.

The Branch Office at Mahmood Kot, being the focal point for POL transportation, is equipped with Hauler Base measuring 9 acres, with trained staff by major oil marketing companies in the field of HSSE (Health Security Safety Environment), Operations, Maintenance and Finance. The trained staff, updated fleet and safety procedures have helped us to run the business environment-friendly and with minimum fatalities.

Dry Cargo

In the year 2000, Al-Haj Enterprises expanded its transportation business for the cargo sector. Initially, Al-Haj Enterprises got registration with Fauji Fertilizer Jordan Company Ltd. and is successfully transporting its products all over Pakistan.

For containers, we have a separate fleet of 85 flatbed 40 feet trailers and we can arrange 100 trailers immediately whenever required by our clients. Additionally, we have a system on each lorry tank to dismantle tank from the chassis and to convert it into flatbed trailer. This operation takes two hours and this is how our fleet can be used for both operations.

Within three months, we are expecting a huge bonded warehouse in Afghanistan. It will be the first bonded warehouse in Afghanistan.

We have our own workshop near Port Qasim, Karachi, to maintain our fleet. Additionally, we have our own huge yard in Pipri near Port Qasim which will start its operation within a month. The yard can be used for various purposes, such as, trailer parking, container storage, warehouses and packing as well.

Turnover

The turnover of Al-Haj Enterprise has shown a growth rate of 66% per annum in the last 5 years. The major contributor in growth in 2003 – 2004 was export business. We are pioneers in initiating, planning & executing Afghan Export Operations in Pakistan through major OMC’s for DESC and now we have the best operational capability to provide premium services for the business the proof of which is that we now are the largest fuel cartage carriage company for Afghan Operations. In 2005 we started handling fuel supplies to North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) that further enhanced the growth rate.
